John McIlwaine - Moray Sea School, Burghead Scotland, 1968

I attended M.175, Cochrane watch, in January/February 1968. Great memories and my appetite was whetted for ongoing adventures and travel. I can say, "I attended Gordonstoun". [We did our swimming and life-saving there]. It was cold, rough/tough, wet and sometimes exhausting; that's why I went. Wonderful employer Joseph Lucas of Birmingham funded my attendance. A humorous moment for everyone except the birthday boy: early one (winter) morning we were heading for the cold showers after a run along the cliffs. One fellow pleads, "It's my 21st birthday today, can I be excused a shower? The answer was, "No. You can have two!" Long live O.B. !!
