Roger Jones - Devon on Ashburton, 1967

Drake-D64-Group_Roger-Jones_August-1967
I was a member of Drake Patrol in D64 in August 1967, having been sent by my employer, who sent all apprentices when they were 18 yrs old to an Outward Bound School, not all to Devon - some to the other schools.
I still have the daily diary that we all kept whilst there, and, having re-read it recently was amazed what we all had undertaken. I estimated that we must have walked about 200 miles in total back and forth across Darmoor & Exmoor!
My final diary entry reads:
"25th August 1967
Morning duties. Packing odds & ends, breakfast, 'Good-byes'.

Set off in coaches for Newton Abbot and home, extremely fit, clear minded, and with a real sense of achievement...."
